Tangidyne™ Film Thickness Monitor Technology

Made popular by Maxtek™ with their PM 700 series and RQCM monitors and Stanford Research Systems™ QCM 100 and QCM 200, 1" diameter crystals are becoming commonplace in the investigation of liquid based chemical and biological reactions. Essentially, these are AT-cut crystals very much like standard vacuum monitor crystals, with four exceptions: 1) the diameter is larger, allowing for a very clean resonance spectrum and resulting measurement stability, 2) the crystals are flat, unlike the plano-convex design of a vacuum monitor blank, 3) the crystals are often polished on both sides, to minimize the "dragging" of water by the crystal surface during oscillation and 4) the electrode pattern is a wrap around design, which means that the crystal can be completely contacted electrically from one side. This latter feature is a necessity since the crystal sensor head must be submerged in water. An O-ring seal is incorporated in liquid monitor sensor heads to prevent electrical shorting.

As with all replacement sensors, the electrical and physical specifications must match the original equipment manufacturer's design to insure trouble free operation. And that is our promise to you: all replacement crystals will equal or exceed the instrument maker's design, or your money back, no questions asked! That means that if you have an SRS™ QCM 100, 200 or Maxtek™ PM700 series plating monitor or RQCM, these crystals will work!

We currently offer a variety of stock items for you to choose from. All crystals are AT-cut to operate with minimal frequency versus temperature variation at 25ºC and packaged in our unique custom crystal carrier (image to the right).

We are continually adding on to our inventory, and have made custom coatings including overlays (on top of the gold electrodes) of 304 stainless steel, copper, nickel, germanium, tin, iron, carbon, molybdenum, silicon dioxide, silver and magnesium fluoride.
